If you’ve been in your home for a while, it might begin to feel old-fashioned or stale.

Good news: You don’t have to plan a full-scale renovation or spend a lot to give your home a new look and feel. In fact, there are plenty of ways to change your property without a huge investment (of time or money).

Are you ready to give your home a few upgrades this spring — on a strict budget? Here are five simple and affordable projects to consider.

  1. Update your hardware. Changing out things like door knobs and kickplates, drawer pulls, faucets, cabinet handles and other hardware can be a great way to spread a sense of newness throughout the house.
  2. Repaint or add wallpaper. Adding a new coat of paint can refresh a room — even if it’s just an accent wall. You can also repaint cabinets instead of replacing them, and wallpaper can create visual interest on walls, ceilings and shelving.
  3. Revitalize your flooring. You don’t necessarily need to buy new flooring. Instead, work with what you have: Deep-clean carpets, refresh grout between tiles or refinish hardwood floors to give the whole room a refresh.
  4. Change your backsplash. You might be surprised at how updating the backsplashes in your kitchen or bathrooms can change the entire space. There are plenty of inexpensive ways to do this project.
  5. Switch up your furniture placement. If you’ve had your furniture arranged the same way since you moved in, consider switching the layout (or even swapping pieces between rooms) to create new looks without actually buying anything.
