I have a handful of friends that live in Burleson, and they love it. The location is great, and they absolutely love the school district. Burleson has a handful of choice schools, and if one of your children is accepted, then their siblings are grandfathered in (from what I understand). Take a look at the link for the different options of choice schools.
With regard to location, it is the same distance as traveling west to Aledo (if not closer). The difference being that all the commerce and conveniences are already built! The tollroad hits the west side of Burleson and I-35W goes right through it.
The neighborhood is a great value and also has a community pool. Come check it out Sunday!!
